Large Portable Tank

This size tank was purchased to fit a small space and connects to an externally vented fuel tank. Well made and looks very strong.

Pros
  • Meets all ABYC/NMMA requirements for marine portable fuel tanks
Cons
  • Compatibility

Needs improved breather cap design

Seems to work well. However, if it's left in the sun, the tank will expand and you'll have to loosen the cap. Need an upgraded breather cap design.

Pros
  • Low permeation tank virtually eliminates fuel evaporation and fuel wastage
Cons

Putting it together immediately: Parts

Mine broke right away, leaking heavily around the fuel gauge the first time I filled up. Hasn't even had time to swell up from the hot weather as other people are checking in. Edit : Got replacements, also leaks badly, they are broken and unusable.

Pros
  • Compatible with 1/4" NPT fuel fittings
Cons
  • Weight

Good tank for the money

Used with a 5hp outboard motor. on a 14" Lake John. Works perfect for me, not too big but with plenty of range compared to a small built in outboard tank. The sensor is a bonus but actually works well. Don't listen to the reviews that the Gauge bouncing all over the place - this of course happens with fuel splattering as the boat rocks on the water Highly recommended for this type of installation where weight is a big factor but you want to extend your range without one Hauling gas tank around…

Pros
  • 3 gallon, caliber
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was some

You have to air it out, otherwise it will go limp!

initial filling. Filled up until the pressure gauge showed full. Tighten the cap until you hear a click as indicated on the fuel tank. The fuel tank was placed next to the engine under a shaded canopy. When I resumed work on my project two days later, the fuel tank swelled to twice its original size! The outside temperature here in Pennsylvania was between 60-80 F during the 2 days he stayed under the canopy. Apparently, a self-ventilating lid cannot prevent this increase. The plastic tank is…

Pros
  • Automotive sandwich construction resists the pressure rise associated with closed fuel systems.
Cons
  • A few little things.

the sensor tube disintegrates in less than a year.

I read all the reviews and was concerned by all the comments about the tank that expands in the sun. I removed the tank from the boat after each use and kept it in a shed in a shady spot. After a year, save the tube (the plastic tube that connects the barbed fuel connector to the filter at the bottom of the tanks). I pulled the broken hose out of the reservoir and the plastic is sticky/tacky, looks like it's going to break, I'm assuming that's why it broke off (see pic of the yellow hose stuck…
