Depending on the model and manufacturer you can fit these bulbs in any T10/T15 socket with sufficient clearance although the length of these bulbs makes this a problem and since and having doesn't make much sense either; for example side marker lights or anything inside with a socket. Glad to see these lights because it can be very dark out of town and difficult to get back to where you want to go. Not the easiest or quickest replacement job on a 2008 Altima coupe, but when it was done they glowed brightly (during the day) so everything was buttoned up.
