Shoes run a bit small.

Not what I expected. I bought men's size 12. Same size as the last 30 years including last year. This is the first time the shoes fit snugly on my foot with little or no arch support. The shoes still fit, there is simply no leeway. It's good that I'm doing this review. That made me try on the shoes. Update After wearing shoes for several weeks. The shoes are comfortable to walk on, they are still a bit tight. But memory foam compresses to the point where it no longer cushions. I used to be able

Lightweight and comfortable

I've been wearing AVIA cross training shoes for a long time. They fit well and are very light. Support them. I think that in a year or two I will be buying new sports insoles. In fact, I keep my AVIAs until they wear out, which is about 4 years of my use. (I usually have two or three pairs at a time: casual wear, working out, and gardening. In four years, a pair of shoes goes through three stages in a shoe's life.) The prices for a shoe this good are great. (BTW: I wear a size 8 1/2 mens. I…

I was looking for cheap shoes for a long car ride and I found

I drove 40 hours and needed something comfortable to drive. I don't wear shoes often (usually boots) so I wanted something cheap that I wouldn't regret buying when I travel and use occasionally when I don't want to wear boots. I was skeptical but needed something fast. First Thoughts: The width felt a little tight right out of the box, but overall the fit was good. It was tight around my foot but had plenty of room for the toes. The shoes didn't feel cheap, were well cushioned and very…

I'm not sure how long they should last.

I don't know yet what others have experienced with these shoes, for me I can't say much as they didn't last long. I received it on July 3rd. Probably wore them to work on July 5th. I run an average of 6 km every day. Not the fastest shoe I've tried, but probably the second fastest. But definitely the worst built. I've never seen them fall apart so quickly. July 5th was the first day I wore them, it's September 18th and here we are. That doesn't mean I won't consider buying another pair, I just…

Update: Oh crap.

Avia shoes were one of my favorites for comfort. Still wish they had made their heavy souls over memory foam. because they were always the best and have accompanied me forever. However, they didn't even last a month. Underemployment. Memory foam ruined a decent pair of boots. Since she worked as a cashier, she completely destroyed the memory foam. It feels like you're walking on bruises. This company really needs to get back on its feet before it's sued for the "pain and trauma/emotional abuse"

Pros
  • High marks for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Repair

Men's sneaker Avi-verge Avia

Cheap but nice, especially for the price. If they last a year or so, they're still beneficial. I've had similar Avias before and they've held up much better than much more expensive ones (like the $100 New Balance shoes) where the inner material rubbing against the heel wears out quickly, the front of the outer toe has fallen apart and the one below is torn. separately. So yes. That's a lot compared to them. I bought arch insoles to wear in, I was satisfied and will definitely buy more.

Pros
  • There's something to it
Cons
  • You could choose a newer model

I love these shoes but buy good insoles.

I never liked the idea of spending more than $100 on a pair of running shoes. Also, I have wide feet. So these shoes fit me. They cost around $25 and they come in plus sizes. They are comfortable and look decent. I remember Avia was big in the 80's; Robert Parish wore Avias. I always thought cantilever soles were a great idea. This means that the outsole of these shoes has an indentation in the heel area for cushioning. Avia must have had some problems and now they make cheap shoes. You (sort…

My 2nd pair of AvIa purchase

I bought my first pair of white Avia tennis shoes and was very happy with them so I bought a second pair although my first pair was hardly worn. Good arch support which I needed. I used to buy cheap tennis shoes that didn't have good arch support and had to part with them prematurely. Usually the 7-1/2 fits me like a glove, so I was a little disappointed that my second pair wasn't perfect. I felt a slight pressure on the top of my left toe. Not a big deal as I'm pretty sure the pressure drops…

Using Avia for work

I have 3 versions of the Avia range of running shoes - Avai Verge, Avia Skill and Avia Union II - I will be writing a review and cover for all three. Avia Verge is by far the worst of them all. Although the fit is true to size, I found they wear out quickly and feel poorly constructed. I've been wearing them to work for two months and they are already worn through the sole and torn on the outside of the sock. They don't claim to be non-slip and they definitely are NOT - don't buy them if you'll
