Great product, easy to use

Great product, easy to use. However, the user manual is a bit confusing. It says to poke the pins into the wood parallel to the wood, but that means you have to poke them into the cut end of the wood, but I think they mean poke them perpendicularly along the split grain.

Pros
  • Durable finish
Cons
  • Clarity

That it just works and has to be precise.

I don't know how accurate this is because we don't have a comparison. We don't sell firewood so we don't have to guarantee, but the readings appear to be very close to what we're comfortable with. Just by testing different types of wood, some of which we are sure are very dry and others like green treated wood, we feel they are close enough to use in our fireplace.

Pros
  • Stable test results
Cons
  • Negative impression

Works half the time

Product does not always work. Sometimes it reads correctly and other times it only reads 19.9% on all forests (even the ones I know are really green). I usually have to take the battery out and wait a bit for it to restart and start working again. Not sure if that has anything to do with what I keep in my non-climate garage or not.

Pros
  • Large LCD digital display
Cons
  • Not as thick as other models

I was impressed with the moisture meters

The simplest product you can get. Insert the battery and press the power button for 3 seconds. I've dropped two standing dead ashes in a few days and got what I think is the correct reading. The basewood showed 35% and the middle and cover wood 22-24%. Just confirms the old adage that ashes can be burned almost instantly. It seems solid and simple, which is good.

Pros
  • Resolution: 1%; Accuracy: Β±1%
Cons
  • I'll write later
