Do not buy. I think it's a production error from a bad batch. The idea of removing the foil like a sticker to activate the zip doesn't work: I ripped open my bag to find out and no, it doesn't work. I'm a college packaging specialist and I'm good at it. Don't buy unless you plan to use a chip clip to seal the base.

They're actually pretty good. They close tightly and in my experience the degas valve worked fine. (One bag had a small tear down the side when I folded the top to let air out, but that may have been my fault and easily repaired with a piece of tape.) I can say they will hold up. Half a pound of whole roasted coffee beans comes in handy.

This product is well made. It has some sort of plastic coated foil liner that can be sealed and zipped up and will keep the dry product fresh for months. The one-way gas valve allows gases to escape by blocking the flow of oxygen. The only downside of a craft bag compared to satin or gloss bags is that if you spill something on a craft bag, it cannot be removed. Unlike other bags, the coloring cannot be rubbed off and is therefore not for sale.

My husband has been roasting coffee for six months now and when he wants to hand out coffee I cringe at the ziplock bag he puts in. I bought them for him as Christmas gifts and they have completely changed the way coffee was received. Looks a lot more professional. The bag has a valve to allow the coffee to breathe and a zip closure at the top. You can simply print out the labels on your home computer and stick them on your bag, or simply hand write the mix for a more artisanal look.

The ziploc mechanism is only attached to one side of the bag so it cannot be sealed. The bags did not come in the original packaging as warned in the product description (that the product description even had such a warning should have put me off the order!). The top sealed part of the packages I received doesn't look like the pictures in the product description - the pictures in the description look like a regular ziplock bag, not a heat seal bag.
