Based on my observations this compass is made of high-quality materials and is perfect for outdoor activities! The Tolkien leather adds a stylish touch and the nautical design is a great aesthetic addition. I love how it gives accurate readings and the size is just right - not too big or small. The hinge is strong enough to open and close. There was no inscription inside the item purchased as advertised. The chain is also not attached to the clip. Was bought as a gift.
