My 1 year old injured himself trying to get out of his crib while he was sleeping. He was bruised from falling off the edge and that seemed like the best course of action. As for storage in his bed, this works great. My only issues were 1) the zipper at one opening broke on the same day. Luckily there are several of these, so it was still usable. 2) Cleanliness.
