So I thought back and forth about buying this iron because it was very expensive and some reviews said it might be fake. I'm so happy I invested in this! As many others said, it does not close completely. He's definitely wrong. The manufacturer's box was opened when I received my iron, so I may have received one that someone else has already returned. I'm not sure. Either way, I'm sending it back.

DO NOT buy this item. The ceramic plate buckled and pressed against the glowing pieces as I stood by. Sparks and small flames could be seen. It was so dangerous and scary. I'm thankful that I stood far enough away that I wasn't hurt and that my kids weren't there.

This broke the ends of my hair. No matter how deep I rotated the disc, it still caused damage. DO NOT use if you have fine hair.

I've only had this product for 3 months and it already has a short in the rotating part and it turns off when I pick it up. The last iron I paid that much for lasted 4 years. Don't waste money!
