This radio replaces a 15 year old Oregon Scientific radio. One of the main attributes I was looking for was a radio that would detect the end of a message and turn itself off when idle. This radio works fine. The sound quality is good, the reception is also good. I am happy with this purchase.

We bought this because we live in a state that has a lot of tornadoes. We set it to place the county and boroughs around us. Well we got a tornado, our sirens went off across town so we ducked for cover. The radio didn't work until 20 minutes after the tornado was fully ready on the ground. Before that, our phones were off. We bought it to turn it on in time when we don't hear the sirens. We are very disappointed!

This unit works well and is easy to program. The main problem I had was that the year isn't usually what I try to determine when I'm looking at it, unless I'm thawed or waking up from a long coma. The year is the largest element on a very busy display. It's time, but I have to look for it and I can't read without glasses. And I only have an age change vision. I read other clock radios well. But it's like trying to decipher the data from the NASA computer.

This Reecom weather radio I bought for my daughter in 2011 was instrumental in what I believe saved the lives of her entire family. I bought this unit 3 years ago to replace another weather radio that was missing some key features. Our area experiences thunderstorms in the middle of the night, which often become violent and produce tornadoes. Nice little radio. We use in the house. and we have a rechargeable Eton radio which we love for camping. The only complaints about this device so far are that even with backup batteries, if the device is unplugged it resets the date to 2008? Serious? Can't you fix this error now? Wow. It really sucks to pull out the manual we had to find online and print it out (fine print enough don't you think?) only to reset the date and time. I bought the weather radio at the end of June 2011 and received it fairly quickly. That was a good first sign because I think it's coming straight from the company. I thought it was pretty good service. Setup was pretty easy too. I've never had a weather radio and followed step-by-step instructions.
