Description of Backdrop CMS

The comprehensive CMS for small to medium sized businesses and non-profits. Mission Backdrop CMS enables people to build highly customized websites, affordably, through collaboration and open source software. Audience Backdrop CMS is for the small to medium sized business, non-profits, educational institutions, and companies or organizations who are delivering comprehensive websites on a budget. Backdrop values site builders over coders. It's most important that the product first be usable, and second, easy to extend. Developers should consider their users first, and choose to build intuitive user interfaces over flexibility. If options must be presented in the user interface they should be minimal, but APIs beneath the surface can expose more options to developers. Backdrop values contrib developers over core developers. Core developers should fight the urge to refactor, because small changes in core may result in large changes for contrib. Each major change will be weighed carefully against the principles of the project, and if a decision is not immediately clear, and issue should be escalated to the Project Management Committee.

Wpengine looks good for those new to web development

I like that they offer support via forums, video tutorials which are helpful in learning how things work quickly without having much of an understanding what is happening under my site's hoods (which i have never used before). And also their pricing structures really do seem fair enough compared with others who charge more per month! If you're looking at building websites or using your website as storage space then it could be useful but if not make sure there would definitely other options…

Pros
  • great value when its up against those expensive competitors such o Wordpress et al.
Cons
  • It is hard to say

A solid free and open source alternative to Wordpress

I like that it's easy enough so anyone can use, but still powerful if you know what your doing! It is very basic in some areas (like editing pages) which makes me think they should add more functionality down this path as well because there are many other options out their already with way better features than backdrops core functions alone would provide - not just limited page creation/editing etc.. There really isn't much dislike about anything at all from my perspective when using backdrop…

Pros
  • That it is so easy to use and can be custom designed to suit just about any business's/user's needs and requirements!

Excellent Website Platform - Wish It Was More Customizable

I like that Backdrop is easy to use and has a lot of great features. I don't like that I can't really customize my website. I can't just make a website and be done with it. I have to do a lot of custom coding. I would like to be able to customize my website, but I can't. I also wish that I could get help from the Backdrop team when I need it. I also wish that they had more user groups. I would like to be able to get help from other people. I would like to be able to get help from other people…

Pros
  • The drag and drop feature
  • Good customer support system
  • Ease Of Use (once you've learned)
  • Easy To Install & Setup
  • A simple way too learn all about your new product!
Cons
  • Can not upload multiple images at once.
  • There's no ability or option within software interface so far as i knoewto add an icon into navigation bar

Great for selling B2B services to large companies

I like that it's very flexible, has loads of plugins available out there (which is great if you're looking at something similar). It also supports lotsa different languages which makes development much easier than with other platforms such as wordpress or drupal in my experience! As others have mentioned - not all features are easy/well documented but this can be improved by them over time too :) We've been using backdrop since 2013 so we know how well its developed now compared when first…
