At 4 inches long this is not a huge hair clip but it is a good size. distinct at the bottom (with a slight gap) and have long teeth inside, all of which help hold the hair regardless of its thickness. These are good clamps and definitely have better (bigger/stronger) claws than many others. There are sufficiently large gaps between the claws that allow for a good grip. That being said, for people like me with excess hair, you might find that you still need a few extra bobby pins to keep hair right where you want it.
