My house has a 2nd floor balcony that opens onto the ground floor and I built it in after having a very adventurous kitten. It looked good and was easy to install. The problem was that it only worked for a few days before my cat learned to climb the net and started hanging on the balcony railing. We have baby gates for our new kittens that can walk right through some rooms... So I put this on until they could squeeze through big holes. The mesh is strong, with piping on all sides and holes in the piping to keep it in place. The height was perfect and plenty of zip ties were included to secure it. I needed something to keep my small dog and his toy from going over the railings at our vacation home and I found this railing protector. It worked great! I didn't want to do the whole height (so as not to look through the net at the sea) so I only did half and rolled the bottom onto the floor so my dog's toy didn't fall through as well. Since it couldn't be permanent, I used shoelaces and spring-loaded cords (like jacket or sweatshirt laces), threaded and tied the laces. It worked perfectly…
