Suitable for small CNCs

It is more stable than I thought. I used it for cutting aluminum panels. It should be easy to switch from Nema 17 to Nema 23 if you have a 3D printer. CON needs to make an extra block to hold the 500mW spindle.

Pros
  • High precision, heavy load resistance SFU1605, Maximum horizontal load: 30 kg; Vertical maximum load: 15 kg
Cons
  • Small things

Works but too big and heavy

Didn't realize it was that big. The included NEMA 11 stepper motor was too heavy for the needs of my robotics project. For something with 3-4 inches of travel, he figured it would be a little smaller and lighter. In any case, I'm using it off-label, so I need to do a workaround. Apart from that it works fine.

Pros
  • 4 M6 nuts on working block
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model

Looks bigger than it actually is

This seemed like the perfect Z axis for my 3018 router , so far I have not installed it. There is a lot of play between the bearings and the connecting rods they slide on. There isn't a setting for it, so I'll have to make my own. I drilled and chiseled holes in the aluminum frame to attach it to my car so I can't return it now. Also the stepper motor didn't work, I ended up using it from the original Z axis. If you buy this you will have to do some work to make it what you are looking for.

Pros
  • Effective travel: 100mm, pitch: 5mm (lead screw moves 5mm per revolution)
Cons
  • Not as thick as other cutters
