So far so good.: Kitchen & Dining

We bought this based on a Consumer Reports recommendation and so far we are happy with it. We'll drastically lower our rating if it dies prematurely, but in the two months we've had it it's served us well and looks great on a countertop.

Toast Evenly (Previously)

Need a replacement for a Cuisinart toaster that never worked properly. It was near the top of Consumer Reports ratings, which in our experience have not been very reliable for toasters in the past. It roasts more evenly and faster than the old one.

Why are there six shades of tan to choose from?

Nice toaster and browns fairly evenly. However, I set the browning/shading selector to "3" to test the toasting of my first piece of bread. It has turned completely black on both sides. I then moved it to "1" and a piece of toast with the main surface toasting fairly well/evenly but the edges were charred. I moved the selector down a bit and now I get a nice piece of toast without charring. My question is why is there a choice between 2 and 6? The browning/tinting selection is really just a…
