Great filter, be careful when you fly!

Works great, fresh taste. Used this on my middle east desert trip. However, be aware that a small amount of moisture will become trapped in the filter unit after refilling. I figured ours was dry enough to travel and left it in my suitcase, unfortunately the low temperatures at 39,000ft caused the filter to expand and crack; Lesson learned. Thank goodness I didn't prime the other two I bought. Next time I'll just leave it in my hand luggage.

Great product but I have a fairly serious complaint

Great product but I have a fairly serious complaint. When you pour water into the top part of the filter, some water will always spill onto the outside of the container and flow down into the bottom part, where the filtered water collects. Biggest design flaw! The way the two tanks fit together seems to be on its head. If they reversed the way the tanks are connected to each other, water cannot get into the bottom tank from the outside. just stupid

I got sick drinking tap water with a Berkey filter

I hate to blame Berkey for this but I just moved to the Philippines. I started using Berkey to purify my tap water. Next thing I knew I had serious stomach problems. Then I stopped drinking and had to go back to drinking the water I bought from plastic bottles. For 2 days my stomach pain was gone, that's the only thing I've changed. Unfortunately, the conclusion can only be that Berkey does not purify water from all bacteria or contaminants.

Goodbye Brita! in Sports & Outdoors

I've been trying to reduce household waste and water filters and bottled water were high on my list. On top of that it's more cost effective too, I don't see what you can go wrong. (I was able to find a discounted model through Warehouse Deals, making it even more affordable!) This single filter will last for years even with daily use. I did the red dye test and felt like I was doing a trick! An added bonus is that the top chamber fits onto a mason jar if you're concerned about the small size…

Cons
  • Mostly good, but...

PRO: Easy assembly instructions, handy travel size. Cons: After thoroughly washing my hands and cleaning ALL the items in the Go Berkey SET; and primer BERKEY black filter: result; The Go BerkeyKit produces clean tap water BUT leaves the water with a PLASTIC/chemical taste. I let the filter soak for THREE DAYS - THE CHEMICAL TASTE AND SMELL did not go away. Besides that; The chemical taste and smell only went away after I poured the Berkey filtered water into my PUR pitcher. CONCLUSION: The GO…

Not the best choice for a road filter

For decades I have lived in an environment where water filtration is essential. As a result, I've experimented with many different filters and purifiers over the years. A few years ago I bought black Berkey filters and installed them in a gravity filter made in India. I couldn't be happier with the results. I bought the Go filter thinking it would be perfect for travel. It's not like this. The filter only produces 24-25 ounces at a time and that takes a long time. I think it may be because…

Like big boys but easier to travel and transport

This is a "must have" for anyone who wants clean filtered water everywhere. It works the same as the larger Berkey water filtration systems but scaled down for personal use. I use it to filter drinking water from a well at work, hotel water when traveling, and streams of water when hiking in the Rocky Mountains. The world's best and most trusted water filter in a compact, easy to carry and easy to use fast acting size. Highly recommended for anyone who needs clean and tasty water anywhere. ** I

Untested, Not Reliable

Update: If you want to buy Berkey, make sure you buy from an authorized dealer (contact the manufacturer or buy directly from them). I bought from a seller who turned out to be an unauthorized manufacturer. Now that the filters are out of service, the manufacturer refuses to replace them under warranty. Very funny. Why doesn't the manufacturer sell directly through Revain? (I also bought the filters from an authorized dealer and they failed the test soon after - to their credit the manufacturer

I've found Berkey to be a great filter, everything I've gone through has .

I bought a Crown Berkey last year and since then 90% of what I've drunk has gone through a Berkey filter. I found the Berkey to be a great filter, everything I went through tasted great. This includes surface well water that may or may not have gone through a reverse osmosis filter. I've been on the road a lot this summer and needed a way to get filtered water on the road without lugging around gallons and gallons of pre-filtered water. . Enter Burke. I was considering the Travel Berkey option…
