Improved Flash Extender Lens - Better Beamer Replacement Review

This interchangeable lens works great with my Better Beamer. The only reason for a 4 rating is that they crack over time. I've had to change lenses twice over the years. They work well, but they ride hard on plastic so cracks appear over time. They can be used until the cracks spread across the entire lens.

This really increases the flash range, especially when shooting outdoor wildlife. One problem is that the adhesive holding the velcro is suspect. It started peeling off on me and peeling off on a co-worker on the same trip. This event caused an old professional photographer acquaintance (on the same trip) to speculate that they had changed the glue they used (for the worse) because he had been using them for years and never had a problem.

I am a bird photographer and I use this product 2-6 times a week. I keep the Better Beamer connected to my camera at all times and use it about 60% of the time. Extremely useful for backlit and low light subjects. I use it in the camera's manual mode and manual ISO, then light the subject in 2 stages and let the flash adjust the light based on the flash duration.
