🧵 Bewitching Cross Stitch: Captivating Needlework Designs Review

Patterns are beautiful - very well done. It looks like the artwork has been completed and the grid has been placed over it, not the art on the grid. So there are many squares 1/2, 3/4, 1/4. There are 5 or 6 shades of each color - some are so similar that you (I) have trouble telling them apart. And often just a stitch or two, then a color change. This makes even the smallest templates frustrating. While I love the content, I doubt I would buy it or anything like it again.

I was thrilled when I received my copy of this book. The book is well designed and the charts are easy to read. What I didn't expect were the many beautiful drawings in the book. Usually when I receive a book it's for a design, but they're all fun and magical. The preview of the book before ordering only shows a few designs, so it was a pleasant surprise to see the phoenix and all the witch designs and decorations (small designs that go with the big designs). There are so many ways to describe this book that it is difficult to choose just a few words. The colors and designs are fabulous. The Father Sun and Mother Moon patterns are by far my favorites and I can't wait to sew them. You are just incredibly beautiful. I bet Joan had a blast dreaming up these. Colors are above everything. *UPDATE* I LOVE THIS BOOK! I've done almost EVERYTHING here as a gift or just because. I'm reworking the Moondragon Crescent again. The first time I did it on black and it looks AWESOME! Now I embroider it on blue/grey fabric. This book is NOT for beginners. This works with evenly woven fabric, you have to work on 4 strands and not only is it difficult but it took me almost 8 months to complete the kite. This is a fantastic fantasy cross stitch pattern book by Joan Elliott. It's a good deal to get so many designs in one book. Not only are there two handfuls of larger designs, but there are also many smaller designs to go along with them. Although I don't like the color swatches (I prefer black and white), they are easy to read and don't cause me any problems. .I love Ms. Elliott's design aesthetic no matter what the subject. What a fantastic selection of designs! As an avid seamstress and heather, I really appreciate the patterns in this book. They range from nice, big projects like the phoenix and mother moon to smaller projects if you want to make gifts or just don't have time to commit long term (I plan to use the phoenix feather design to make pillowcases ). I bought one for myself and one for a friend when I saw mine. Joan Elliot is an artist who paints the most beautiful faces in cross stitch. I love "Mother Moon" so much that I immediately bought all the ethereal metallic yarns, beads and fabrics from Kreinik to start sewing!
