This is my second oil bell, the first was a traditional one with a French stamped water pan. The bell cracked after a few years of use. I bought this as a replacement. This is an exceptionally good oil bell that takes up less space than my old one. It would actually fit in my old oil pan, but holds about the same amount of oil. Living in a hot state I can't get out of butter without it melting and/or oxidizing leaving a dark yellow layer of inedible butter on all sides. Fu-Y! While I've never used a bell-shaped oil pan, I'm hoping this resolves previous impact issues while still allowing the oil to spread easily. We also save space in the fridge.
