Use 1 stick for 1-2 gallons of water; stick is approximately 1.1" in diameter and 5.9" in length. Reactivate charcoal every two weeks by boiling for 10 minutes and letting dry. Material: binchotan (Japanese Oak) charcoal from the Kishu region, Japan.

Excellent filter for replacement water filter

I have been using these carbon filters for many years. They are amazing. And best of all, once they survive their life in the filter, they can be broken open and placed in houseplant soil to help aerate and hydrate. I use a large filter on a pitcher of water that I keep in the fridge. This is a 1/2 gallon jug.

Pros
  • Done
Cons
  • For old

Got rid of bad taste in water

I put one of the sticks in a 1.5 gallon container and let it sit overnight and I think it tastes great! I hated the taste of our tap water (I'm known in the family as a water snob) and I think it definitely got rid of any bad taste. Given that these two sticks last 6 months I think this is a great purchase.

Pros
  • Multiple competitors
Cons
  • Quality

Excellent Replacement Water Filter Filters

The tap water in my home is not of very good quality (softened by the city and very tasteless). These filters work great leaving behind clean, refreshing water that I enjoy drinking. Filters are simply "recharged" every two weeks with a quick 10-minute boil. Definitely more economical and better for the environment than buying filtered water bottles or jugs.

Pros
  • Great Price
Cons
  • No Form Required

Better than disposable filters

We got this because we are trying to reduce plastic usage with a 2 gallon glass drink dispenser and it works great. Refill dispensers every night before bed and have enough for the next day. The taste of the water is much better than with Britta filters. You have to activate the charcoal every few weeks but it's very simple, I just set a reminder on my phone every time and I don't even have to think about it.

Pros
  • Availability
Cons
  • I have no major complaints about it, everything is fine

Health Hazard - Water Filtering and Softening

These charcoal sticks are harmful to your health. I tried them to purify city water and got very sick. The sticks are sent without any information about what pollutants they claim to remove from the water. There is also no indication of what type of water they can be used in. City water, for example, contains all sorts of contaminants such as raw sewage, heavy metals, pharmaceuticals, herbicides, pesticides, etc. This company needs to stop playing with their health and the health of our pets.

Pros
  • Pleasant
Cons
  • Mostly Fine, But...
