Sturdy little antenna

Works better than expected. I used them on a fox hunting transmitter. In fact, I tried to make the radio as inefficient as possible. Transmission reception was solid over 1000 meters (set in a plastic ammo can at low power on a Baofeng UV-5R radio). A twisted way of saying these are sturdy little antennas if you're looking for something shorter than a standard rubber duck but still capable of operating at a decent range.

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Much worse than my factory antenna. MUCH WORSE!

Save Money and Skip This. I don't know what to tell you because my search continues. I WILL SAY DON'T BUY THIS. You get 2 for $8. For the price I should have known better. Super comfortable in size. Not even as long as a toothpick, but if you can't, then. I tried it on baofeng uv5r and also on baofeng btf9v2+ and on my btech DMR-6X2. They all suck. I can walk about half a mile. If this. Unfortunately this is too good to be true. My search continues.

Not dual band, fits antennas

Don't expect this antenna to go far and don't expect it to work on VHF. I installed these antennas on two different analyzers (RigExpert AA-600 and nanoVNA). Both SWR at 2 m > 20 or more. At UHF, the SWR is about 1.3 at about 440MHz and about 1.8 at about 460MHz. I bought them for UHF so I don't mind that they aren't dual band but if you buy this antenna hoping to use it on VHF you will probably be disappointed. I bought these to mount a pair of UV-5Rs at 70cm for very close simplex…

You work, hardly. in Portable Audio & Video

They are really small but very elegant. I bought 2. One of them had a very high SWR and the other was fine. When I rotate the antenna you hear a "buzz" so they are dainty. I'll probably try opening the one with the high SWR to see if I can get something better out of it. I would recommend testing them out before messing around with the transmitter like I did. I really don't like writing bad reviews, but I also don't like buying a UHF antenna and then ruining the transmitter because I used an…

This little tiny antenna works like a full size rubber ducky. WTF.

I love this little antenna. Judging by the performance, it was the comet's antenna. It works almost as well as the stock antenna on my UV-R50 and fits perfectly. I have. 16" Titanium whip and this little thing compares. I can hit my local repeater as well as one over 50 miles away. Of course this one is on a 400ft tower and is a true repeater beast. However, it proves, that the SWR has to be excellent to get my measly 5 watts this far. I didn't check the SWR as it passed my first test (hitting…

Expected a little more

I expected a little more from these guys. I thought they were soft plastic like a regular rubber ducky but they are hard plastic. I bought 4 packs and one antenna broke at the bottom when a heavy object fell on it. As for the radiation, I knew it wasn't good for anything other than "housework." The resonant frequency is about 436MHz and the SWR at that frequency is about 1:2.5 and looks like a 100 ohm load. At 450MHz it looks like a 50 ohm load, but not purely resistive, and the SWR seems to go
