Waiting for field tests

It gets one star at the moment I couldn't test it and it looks like it's a poor copy of one of the other antenna types. We'll see, I'll update the review as soon as I can test it.

Pros
  • Finally bought
Cons
  • Almost everything is there

Baofeng UV-5R in Portable Audio & Video

It definitely works on the Baofeng UV-5R, the only thing is that it's not bolted flush to the radio, I'm in one all the time WΓΌstenfeld and I suspect that by not rinsing dirt particles can get into the antenna connection. I hope I can find one that is smooth. I'm not sure if it extended the range, but FM stations sound clearer.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model

My 15 " antenna consistently gives better reception

So you want to get a ham radio antenna on a budget? Baofeng is the only decent cheap thing you can buy. It's absolute garbage. Folded up or fully extended it works my 15" TIDRADIO antenna worked better and came with a $168 budget Baofeng kit I found here. 5 x 8 watt radios and 5 x 15" antennas with USB programming keys (am just a beginner) . Invest in your gear, if you want it to work I'll send it back.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Obsolete model

42.5 " model failed basic antenna test

I bought this for my backup Baofeng GT-30 and maybe my GMRS radios. I hooked it up to my Agilent network analyzer , and it didn't work very well at all. On 2M and 70 cm the SWR was high. It is not configured for these areas. It's bad enough that I don't even bother with any Rx/Tx testing. Just don't carry it around. I was hoping for a durable long range antenna for my HT - this isn't it. For those who ask
