Description of Lab & Scientific Products: Natural Black Iron Oxide Pounds

Fe3O4, also known as magnetite or Iron (II,III) Oxide. This comes from a natural source so the product has slight variation in color. Particle size runs about 500 mesh (30 microns). Used in thermite welding, fertilizers, pigments, ceramics, along with a lot of other uses. We sell bulk for so many different uses, we don't include any specific use instructions.

Bought to make orgonite and very functional for that purpose. Wear a face mask when using as the particles are small enough to fly through the air

Teachers and Magnets!

I am disappointed that this is a fine powder. I wanted to use it with magnets and kids and they look like miners. Are you trying to find a practical way to share this with kids for science?

Pros
  • Fe3O4, also known as magnetite or ferrous oxide
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Lab Chemicals Fun Magnet

My 13 year old made magnets out of plastic water bottles. This is funny! Whoever is buying this, I encourage everyone to share ideas. What fun science ideas do you use this for? We still have a lot left. I will donate it to the school

Pros
  • Made from a natural source so product will be a slightly different color
Cons
  • Not sure
