Great device - fast 3.1 gen 2

I've only owned this Glyph for three months but it's been plugged and unplugged dozens of times, taken around the world, loaded and unloaded with data and never missed a beat . USB 3.1 Gen 2 is great. The case looks protective and seems to do the job.

Elegant and Reliable - Data Storage

This is the second Glyph I have purchased and my decision is based on my experience with the first. A year later, the first glyph works great. The second is for file transfer. That's good value for money, but you'd expect storage to get cheaper over time.

Seems solid for storage

I like the solid construction. Only time will tell if he survives. A few months and it seems fine. My last high capacity portable drive (from another manufacturer) once fell 3 feet into a cork floor and shattered. The USB-C connector broke off an encrypted internal circuit board, so data recovery is only possible with the help of an expensive professional data recovery service. I hope that this one does not suffer a similar fate.

Pros
  • Comfortable to use
Cons
  • No performance

Great little drive: computers and accessories

I bought this drive for my daughter to use with her MacBook Pro when she goes to college. It's very quiet and seems durable. My only recommendation is to reformat the drive for the Timemachine even if it is preformatted for Mac as it should have taken 3 days after backing up the Timemachine for the encryption to finish. I've read that it's not a hard drive issue, it's how Macs work.

5TB failed after about 40 days

I bought this device as a premium device based on past success with Glyph, which I was willing to pay an extra premium for. I used it as a third level backup for important financial information. Unfortunately it was out of service shortly after the return deadline. I didn't encrypt or password protect it, so I didn't want to send it back to Glyph to share for privacy reasons. So I would 1) advise against buying this and 2) add protection to what you end up buying so that you can feel…

Maybe for Mac - data storage

It looks like a really well built device. However, I couldn't use it. As I was using this for a Windows computer I went to the website for reformatting instructions as directed. There are no such instructions on the Glyph website. I googled the instructions and found something claiming to be from a Glyph engineer (who, by the way, initially apologized for the lack of instructions on their website). This isn't the first time I've had to reformat a hard drive for Windows, although it's been a…
