Description of Blue Demon Plastic General Electrode
E6013 is an excellent choice where there is poor fit-up in the joint. It deposits easily and smoothly producing medium to shallow penetration. Typical applications include General-purpose fabrication, metal buildings and structures, machine parts, shaft buildup.
Purchased 1/16 6013 for use with a small welder that will easily run from any standard 120V household outlet I am a hobbyist not a professional. The rods are easy to hit and launch the bead. Blue Demon's welding basics and safety video is very informative and the advice on using a respirator under a welding mask to prevent fogging and minimize respiratory contamination is excellent and better than traditional outdoor ventilation. A 5lb box for such small rods is a great idea.
These wands arrived on time and were foil wrapped which kept them dry and nice. They work really well for my 120v horn running at 80A DCEP with 5ft leads and a better clamp and stinger than what came in the box. However, I think they are fine with standard cables and a stinger, they don't seem to run out of power. I've welded from 1/8" to 3/16", obviously they don't gnaw through 3/16" but are fine for what I need. I have both vertical and horizontal lap and butt joints welded, no upside down…
I like Blue Demon welding products. much but I am not as happy as I would like with this 5/64 rod 6013. Box says 25-60 amps, pink sticker says 115-125 amps for optimum performance. I'm leaning towards a sticker over 70 amps. I've been able to blow through this rod on a small 70 amp AC HF welder with satisfactory results, but not as easily as with a Forney 5/64 6013. This rod seems a little finicky on a 70 amp HF machine . behaves like a 3/32 bar, it takes a few more amps, maybe 80 amps IMO. I…
