Description of Blue Demon7018 Plastic Hydrogen Electrode

It is recommended for welding medium grade carbon steels where no preheat is used. It can be used on cold rolled steels normally exhibiting excessive prosity when welded with conventional electrodes. Typical applications include low-alloy structurals, low, medium and high carbon steels, offshore rigs and power plants.

Everything is OK. in arc welders

The packaging says low hydrogen sticks but I wouldn't consider them as such because they leak and absorb moisture easily. But they produced the minimum amount of hydrogen in the water test, so use them at your discretion. If you want a 70000 rod and don't care about hydrogen get 7014, if you want real low hydrogen rod get Hobart XLM rods. Although they worked fine.

very bad welding wire

By far the worst welding wire I have ever used (24 years). Flux is a problem, it forms scale as hard or harder than glass making it impossible to start clean and smooth. To break the arc, you need to tap with all your might, and the next problem is that the flux will flow around and in front of the arc, quenching it with an indestructible layer of flux. a jackhammer and a lot of work is required to clean up the mess before you can start welding again. Impossible to work well with this rod. You…

Ideal for agricultural and DIY use

I bought these and then spent about $100 to make 1.5 inch PVC tubes with caps and caps to individually seal the sticks in easy to use wrappers to prevent moisture absorption. I've used them everywhere on my farm, from welding on tractors and trailers, snow throwers and bush hogs, to making structural rebar supports and slabs for barn foundations. The welds are strong and look as good as I can get. When welds fail it's always my fault who I usually overuse with my tractor. Don't understand the…
