I have no idea if these things do anything. .

I have no idea if these things make a difference. I replaced my path after the given path (nearly a year and a half). It doesn't always work, but it's almost always damp/wet inside. It has never been dried. There was no mold/rot or other issues. Maybe that means it works? Again no idea.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • There are problems

Not impressed! - Air Purifier Parts & Accessories

This product is making my humidifier difficult to clean. The nasty black residue it leaves in the water base cannot be removed. I want an alternative product. The silver stick originally made for my Air-O-Swiss was great! Hydro Cell doesn't last as long as a silver stick, it's nothing more than an expensive rip-off. I will never buy a humidifier that requires a hydrocell again.

Great OEM Water Purifier

Have used these in my Air-O-Swiss dehumidifier since it was new. Activated carbon is a highly adsorbent form of carbon that has been treated with oxygen and is used to remove contaminants from liquids. Activated carbon reduces heavy metals (like lead, copper, and mercury), organic contaminants, and pesticides that can be present in tap water. It also reduces the growth of odor-causing chemicals and biofilm to keep the humidifier fresh and clean.

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Nothing Here

I'm actually not sure if they really do anything. I don't know why they got rid of the ion staff. If they cost $10 for two that would be more reasonable, $20 seems like a robbery on the street especially since you have to buy so many of them. I have had an Air O Swiss humidifier for 5 years and now I know where they make money from these things and their cartridges. The leftovers really add up and exceed the lifetime value of the unit, I will definitely look elsewhere if mine breaks.

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

The harder the water, the more you need these

These hydraulic elements need no commentary to understand how to use them. They keep the inside of the AIR-O-SWISS water tank clean when the humidifier uses tap water. You can skip them IF your water is soft enough OR if you're using distilled water, but if you're counting on $1 a gallon it's a lot cheaper since you'll have to replace it about every three months on average. Please note that if you are expecting a difference between new and 3 months old, this will not happen. Time is the only…

The filter works well but needs a good rinse before use

I have replaced the Hydro Cell filter in my humidifier many times. Thanks to my soft water, the humidifier tank smells nice for months. Every time I change the filter, I flush it longer than the instructions say because the carbon dust can be visible during the flush for longer than expected. I also squeeze the filter slightly when rinsing to remove any remaining dust. However, after a period of time, carbon deposits will form on the ultrasonic membrane and tiny carbon fragments will remain in…

Pros
  • handy item
Cons
  • expensive

A few years ago I bought some Air-O-Swiss humidifiers based on good reviews. For the first year I was quite happy and thought it was money well spent. I took care of it properly and even used distilled water with every use. It later turned out that the expensive silver staff was no longer used. I continued to use the old one for the next 2 years. I was about to buy other moisturizers before I found out that these Hyrdo Cells could replace the silver pen. Now, a year before I used them, I didn't
