Description of Boston Gear YB24 Steel Pitch

Transmits torque between parallel shafts to provide rotational power to another part of a motorized system. Pressure angle of 20 degrees for a lower contact ratio between gears, resulting in higher load capacity than smaller pressure angles. Diametral pitch of 16 for applications requiring a balance between transferring torque and controlling changes in speed and direction of rotation with precision. Low carbon steel (.2 percent carbon) for applications where the hardness and strength of higher levels of carbon are not needed to transmit torque and motion.

Solid Steel Gear: A Must-Have!

This product is a game-changer when it comes to power transmission! It’s made of incredibly durable and strong steel, providing an industrial and scientific solution for power transmission products. The teeth formation is excellent ensuring accurate timing in the machinery, and it significantly reduces noise and vibration. Unfortunately, the gears can be more expensive than other models, but the longevity and durability make the investment worthwhile..

Pros
  • Durable steel construction for long-lasting performance.
Cons
  • Potential for rust or corrosion if not properly maintained.

Disappointment: Spur Gears

Item will not ship as shown. No wrench or set screw. I had to drill and cut my own set screw but there was no keyway. In the future I will avoid Boston Gear and buy Martin Gears instead.

Pros
  • 16 diametral pitch for applications requiring a balance between torque transmission and control of speed and direction changes with accuracy
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
