Outstanding Product: Aquarium Water Treatments

As an avid fish lover, I can confidently say that this is one of the best filter media on the market today. My water stays crystal clear and my fish seem to be more active. I still do 25-30% water changes per week, but if I forget or otherwise don't do my water changes, I can rest assured that the water quality will remain optimal and within the required parameters. Great product! gils

Best you can find for fish and aquatic life

I have a 65 gallon aquarium that was installed in 6 weeks. I use aquaclear 70 and 50. I have a new veil in the tank that refused to go away. I did a 25% water change and added Seachem Purigen. cloudiness remains. At 11:00 p.m. I put the Chemipure in the filter, at 6:00 a.m. checked the tank and it was almost crystal clear. During the day the tank was crystal clear. I used Chemipure many years ago and will never use anything else again.

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • New competition arrived

Good quality carbon

Used in marine applications so salt water burns through this stuff like you won't believe. In general, charcoal does not have the longest shelf life when it comes to aquarium use. The bottle says up to 4 months between replacements. I usually service them every few months or so. If you're looking for quality charcoal to help reduce toxins and clean up your water a bit, this is pretty good stuff. For your hardcore needs I would use a reactor. This will work in no time.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes

  • Some problems

Great alternative to carbon!

Great product. Since it contains ionic resins, it does not remove trace elements from the aquarium or release phosphates. In addition, there is a much lower chance of harming your livestock. I used carbon from KENT Marine and then it was recalled because it was contaminated with copper! I have a reef tank and the copper in the water killed almost EVERYTHING! ChemiPure gives you all the benefits of toxin removal, but without the trace mineral degradation and dangers of metals or phosphates. The…

Good product - Chemi-Pure

Have used this product for over six years. It was originally recommended to me by an employee at the aquarium store. My saltwater aquarium, which I regularly maintain (water changes, cleaning, etc.), is always crystal clear and I partly attribute that to this product. Every time we have guests (even repeat guests) we always get compliments on the cleanliness of the aquarium. From what I've read there may be cheaper alternatives, but it's easy to use - it's already boxed and ready to use. Remove

  • Could have chosen a newer model

Very effective product

I have been using Chemipure in the canister filter of my aquarium for 27 years. My canister baskets are large and require two bags in one basket. After three months I will clean the canister filter and only rinse out two bags and after three months I will replace two bags and repeat the process. My aquarium is a 50 gallon freshwater tropical tank that uses a canister and in-ground filtration system with weekly partial water changes. I have to tell you that my water is pristine! My fish are…

Be sure to change the water soon after first use

The instructions for this product state that it should be rinsed lightly before adding to the aquarium. However, if you follow this advice, some "dust" will be left in the area when it enters your aquarium. I use this stuff in my fish/invertebrate only aquariums, but I've noticed that if I don't change the water after a week or so, the fish start acting weird (my fox snout suddenly twitches, dorsal fins flicker frequently). , and in general there were accentuated darker colors) and my coral…
