We upgraded mainly because I wanted an ethernet cable instead of a wireless connection, but otherwise just used it as a basic printer. My MacBook and my wife's Win10 laptop saw this printer online immediately and it prints cleanly with lots of grayscale variation. It's a fast, small printer that's quiet and has easy access to the paper tray and toner. It looks very solid and based on my experience I'd happily recommend even simpler versions if you don't mind using wireless.

I bought this printer to replace an old but working Brother HL-1440. I need a network printer for a PC connected to an Ethernet network and multiple devices connected to a Wi-Fi network. This is a very good 2018 printer. It took 4 minutes physically to get it to the desired location and connect the ethernet cable to the router, didn't install the driver, but found it and used it in less than 2 minutes after that. It's safe to say you can print with it in 10 minutes (plug it in first, let the fuser heat up. It's a laser printer, after all). I don't see the problem of deep sleep, but I know about it from the reviews, so I'm interested too. I only print to it about every 3 days so
