and easy access to the paper tray and toner

We upgraded mainly because I wanted an ethernet cable instead of a wireless connection, but otherwise just used it as a basic printer. My MacBook and my wife's Win10 laptop saw this printer online immediately and it prints cleanly with lots of grayscale variation. It's a fast, small printer that's quiet and has easy access to the paper tray and toner. It looks very solid and based on my experience I'd happily recommend even simpler versions if you don't mind using wireless.

  • Feels good
Cons
  • Doesn't fit everyone

works great, easy to set up

works great, easy to set up, also works with google print I think it's a newer firmware than the others mentioned as the screens they reference no longer exist. Energy saving function, they have changes and they just work, they had no problems with falling asleep and not waking up, satisfied with the purchase on 3/18/2018 after a new firmware update, had to fix the deep sleep for printers mentioned by others, was able to set the parameter on on the Web Management page. Go to General Settingsโ€ฆ

Pros
  • great for small home
Cons
  • questionable purchase for elderly

Nice cheap replacement for our old HP Laser Printer

This printer costs next to nothing in maintenance for the volume of prints we produce. The toner cartridges for this model are cheaper than any of our previous laser printers, and the energy-saving mode also saves a lot of energy. The main issue we had with this printer was that when it went into deep sleep mode, it often wouldn't wake up to print over WiFi. Although a number of Brother firmware updates have addressed this printer issue, it has never been fully resolved. Our final solution toโ€ฆ

Good Money - Printers and Supplies

I bought this printer to replace an old but working Brother HL-1440. I need a network printer for a PC connected to an Ethernet network and multiple devices connected to a Wi-Fi network. The Pros are easy to set up with a CD and a USB cable (from my old printer). YouTube setup videos are very valuable. Much faster than the HL-1440 as it should be. I simply connected the printer to my WAP/router via WLAN. You need to know your SSID and WiFi passwords. My Windows 10 PC (connected via Ethernet)โ€ฆ

Pros
  • Laser Printer
Cons
  • Useless Features

This is a very good 2018 printer. It took 4 minutes physically to get it to the desired location and connect the ethernet cable to the router, didn't install the driver, but found it and used it in less than 2 minutes after that. It's safe to say you can print with it in 10 minutes (plug it in first, let the fuser heat up. It's a laser printer, after all). I don't see the problem of deep sleep, but I know about it from the reviews, so I'm interested too. I only print to it about every 3 days so
