Precise!: Sewing Feet

I was a little disappointed that my Brother machine didn't come with the 1/4" Sewing foot came with the box, but this one works great! It's inexpensive and helps make a very precise 1/4" seam. I'm taking a quilting class right now and our teacher showed us how to apply some concepts to help setting up our machine for a precision 1/4" stitch. She explained that the 1/4" sewing foot is often not quite 1/4. 4". When I set up a 1/4" seam using the concepts she suggested, I found to my surprise that

No Lever Guide

I'm new to this kind of quilting and am trying real patterns instead of just jelly rolls. One I just finished didn't fit like it should, so I asked the lady at the quilt shop what I did wrong. I sent her pictures and she pointed out that my seams were 1/2" instead of 1/4". I had to take everything apart. She then told me to take 1/4 foot and that it would be a great tool for those pesky seams. She told me she had a lever to guide the fabric. So I ordered this one because myBrother's machine…

I love this leg!

I'm sitting in front of my Brother XR9500PRW sewing machine and grinning from ear to ear! I've just started sewing a new quilt (my second in life) and after carefully cutting out all the details, I sewed the first three pieces together using the standard sewing foot. I thought, "I can make a 1/4 inch seam; No problem." Wrong! After three pieces, my first block was already about 1/4 inch torn off. *sigh* Well, Friday night I ordered this leg. It arrived this morning (Sunday) and after waiting 20

Don't waste your money

This foot has a very poor design. I don't think the person who designed this foot has ever sewn fabric with a 1/4 inch seam. The wording in excellent instructions tends to support my theory. Stitches, although in my experience stitches willing to handle it are very good at measuring their stopping distance. I gave the foot two stars instead of one because (a) it's well made and (b) the small needle hole is well thought out so the fabric doesn't bunch up and clump. 4" inseam, not the outside…
