Description of Brown Sugar Bear 54923 Original

Brown Sugar Bear maintains moisture in brown sugar for approximately 3 to 6 months. Made from specially fired clay; food safe and reusable. Soak in water for 20-minutes and place in brown sugar, baked goods, cakes, cookies, marshmallows, even dried fruit to soften and maintain moistness. Use dry, without soaking, to absorb moisture and keep spices, salt, crackers, pretzels and chips dry and crispy. Rinse with clean water only; do not use soap as it could leave a trace taste or scent.

Great for softening brown sugar

They are so good for brown sugar. We live in Arizona where it's very dry and brown sugar turns to stone (it's usually stone at the store). Soak one of these for 10 minutes, pat dry with paper towels, and place in a container of sugar to magically soften. If you're not using a lot of brown sugar, you may need to refresh the bear to keep the sugar soft. Worth a small investment.

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Makes me nervous

Garbage. That's where I put it.

I seem to have bought this item and it cannot be returned or exchanged. So I'm giving it a star because it turned out to be broken and looks like it's been floating on the bottom of a trash can for a while. I don't want to put it in my sugar with all the dust from the stuff that makes it up and mix it in my food. Maybe it's the break, but it's not very hygienic. So I spent money to be delivered to be thrown away.

Pros
  • Don't waste too much time
Cons
  • Some cons

I wish the instructions were better than the ones in the kit

I really wish the instructions were better than the ones in the kit, I ended up soaking them for too long which I didn't know , until I put it in my brown sugar container the next day. I checked and found that the sugar is sticking together. I started reading some stuff on the internet and they said how long to soak in water. I took it out and drew it on paper. Towel for a few hours then put back in the sugar and it's perfect and it makes my brown sugar super soft like I just bought it at the…

  • New to my collection

These "bears " really work!

I had this set of two for about a month and was afraid to try it as it was a waste of money. Yesterday I followed the directions, ie soaked in water for 20 minutes, then whipped one at a time into containers of concrete hard dark brown sugar and one of light brown sugar. I didn't dry them, just put them on top. So today I removed the containers and checked and every container of previously hard sugar was easy to measure, no lumps, it's a miracle!

Pros
  • Full Set
Cons
  • Long time

Saved my brown sugar lump!

After several containers of my brown sugar and constantly throwing away brown sugar because of huge hard lumps. I began to wonder why our brown sugar never clumped as a kid. And then I remembered the weird brown bear in our sugar. After a quick google search I found this! I soaked it in water for 30 minutes and then added it to my brown sugar cubes. After two days there is not a single lump in my sugar! Hooray! Hint: It turned any sugar the bear touched into white. But the taste is the same…

Pros
  • 1 year trial
Cons
  • Available in white only

Really wish it had better instructions than what came in the kit

Really wish it had better instructions than what was complete, I soaked it for too long , until I didn't know I put it in my brown sugar container the next day, I checked and found that the sugar was sticking together, I started reading some stuff on the internet and they said how much time to soak in the water should be left, I took it out, put it on a paper towel for a few hours, then put it back in the sugar, and it will be perfect at the end, and it will make my brown sugar very soft, like…

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model
