Description of 🔌 BTECH USB Smart Charger Transformer Cable for BaoFeng, BTECH BF-F8HP, UV-82HP, UV-5R, UV-5X3 - Compatible with CH-5, CH-8 Charger Base

USB 2.1A, 1A, and .5A transformer compatible - Transforms directly to the 10V DC charger bases. Charge your BaoFeng radio from a solar panel USB, computer USB, car USB, or any USB slot . Compatible with all three CH-5 & CH-8 Charger Generations - Some USB power transformers do not detect generation differences and oversupply voltage to older chargers. NOT COMPATIBLE with 12V charger bases (used on some variants of TYT chargers) or extended batteries (such as the BL-5L which requires a smaller barrel and 7.4V). BTECH is proud to be in the USA, which allows you to have the best available local support for any issue that may arise. BTECH only engineers and develops radio products. That brand focus allows you to have the best available radios and accessories with the most features, with real USA warranty and support.

Safety / fire hazard!

Completely unsafe to use! Don't leave them plugged into an outlet without someone around to watch. I purchased two cables for the same order from Baofeng's "official" dealer (one for each vehicle to charge the UV-82HP radio) and both cables melted at the USB end within minutes of being plugged in. This happened in two different cars. USB ports for charging.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • No instructions

USB is a lifeline, suitable for CB and radio equipment

Pretty much everything should go via USB now! It just works better! These guys decided to answer that call with this amazing USB adapter to charge my Baufeng radios and I'll tell you I'd buy them tea and fig newton when they got home. If I had fig newton or tea. However, I have the best Baufeng radio USB charger adapter and I LOVE THIS MAN! Thank you BTEC! You are the best!

  • Dope 🔥

Excellent authentic Baofeng USB charging cable doc

Correct 10V conversion when using USB cable to Baofeng charger. I used a 12V car plug (cigarette plug) with a USB charger. Then this cable to the charger. Charged Baofeng in the car. Just make sure your car is idling and not turned off. Also works with laptop USB charging port and USB wall charger. You no longer need to use a square power cable for wall mounting. It is convenient to use any USB power adapter.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Can't use adapter model with base and battery

I was hoping that the dual body size model would fit both the charging dock and the larger battery for the BF-F8P, but no. One of the barrels is completely useless while the other is only good for the battery. None of the adapters work with the charging station. Even the packaging says BTECH batteries will use an angled adapter at first. Okay, then why not use a different adapter for the charging station? Not such a complex concept. Will return.

Pros
  • Works great for me
Cons
  • Has disadvantages

They work well with Baofeng BF-8+ with standard battery

I read the reviews and had my doubts about chargers but decided to give it a try. 2 cars (2 walkie-talkies), 7 day trip from California to Tennessee, charging at least 10 hours a day - not a single problem. They stay slightly warm, definitely not hot and don't even reach the melting point of plastic - I tested them every hour for a couple of days. Of course, this can be due to the power consumption, but with a standard rechargeable battery (with charger on the radio tripod) it works without…

But works. suitable for portable audio and video devices

So, I bought this to avoid charging BL-5L batteries. Although I tested them to make sure they work as intended. Be careful, they get hot! It worries me, but nothing has melted yet. The real reason I bought this was to make a USB adapter for the Radioddity GD-77 charging station. They don't make them anymore. Everything works with the barrel adapter. WARNING. Make sure you are using a higher amperage USB port. Don't even try to use a cheap 1 amp device. Heat is generated every time you try to…

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • Everything is fine

CORRECT VOLTAGE best for portable audio and video

Unlike many counterfeit "chargers" that simply apply a source voltage to the battery (5VDC from USB will charge a Baofeng 7.4V battery NOT on), this cable brings the ACTIVE voltage to the correct level. I have measured the voltage with a multimeter on both the connector and charging pins and the voltage is fine. However, increasing the low voltage of the USB source reduces the amperage, so charging from a USB source takes significantly longer than from a 110 volt "wall wart". But it's a good…

The bad thing is that there is no way to charge it.

It worked surprisingly well for my BaoFeng BF-F8HP (UV-5R 3rd Gen) 8W dual band radio! Connected to my 21w PowerPort Anker Universal Solar Charger and that cable still charged the radio. The bad thing is that without a docking port, there is no way to charge the battery. I need to use multiple ranger bands by keeping the radio in port while traveling using the solar charger on the outside of the backpack to keep it charged. I still have to charge the radio batteries when they run out, but when…
