Generates a lot of heat!

This is definitely a great lightbulb, but it generates a lot of heat! I suppose this could work well if you're trying to keep your lunch warm, or even if you're using it in a cool place?

Pros
  • Good thing
Cons
  • Something different

Easier on the eyes than a bare bulb

I was looking for a "vintage" style bulb, but didn't want the brightness of a bare bulb. That's great! Definitely easier on the eyes, but still distributes the light well. I've received several compliments on it. I will buy again!

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • A few minor things

Short life suitable for incandescent lamps

We installed this lamp in a new floor lamp on August 1st and used it for about five hours every day until it burned out in early November. She was beautiful until she burned out. We didn't get the average hours of operation. I assume we are on the low end of the data used in the averaging.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Operating speed

Good for incandescent lamps

I use them in a large "technical" floor lamp. It blocks the filament and perfectly directs the light onto the 15" reflector. since I use the light for three to four hours almost every day. If one burns out I buy two more. There is always a spare. Lights up my desk and mine keyboard perfect.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Doubtful

He fried my lamp!

I would give zero stars! He lit my lamp. One day the device stopped working. Thought it was a wall switch. No, connections, no. Next I disassembled the socket in the lantern and found a burnt wire! Thank God the fire didn't break out. When I used the light, the bulb was very hot. I thought since it is not an LED bulb. NOT RIGHT!

Pros
  • great product
Cons
  • quality

I'm such an idiot to buy them. They're exactly what I needed (in theory) and I bought two of these, ignoring claims from other reviewers that they tend to fade quickly. As a single living on the edge, I threw away the package after two days thinking I was risking them being okay. Oh! I used one for 2 hours and it blew up on me. What a piece of shit! The other still works, but it's in a light I don't use. So far, about 3 hours, it has been turned on. I'm looking for alternatives but I'm very…

Pros
  • Available in 25W, 40W, 60W and 100W models.
Cons
  • Wrinkled packaging.

Fantastic concept

I bought this to place a lamp to light up above my sofa. This is the corner where my husband sits and I didn't want him to be blinded by the bare lightbulbs shining in his eyes while we watch TV. Instead of shining downward, the silver floors reflect the light UP and away from those sitting below. I took off a star because a lightbulb puts out quite a bit of heat and my lightbulb needed 3 of them. I don't think it's the pears. I'm only used to LEDs and fluorescent lights. It never occurred to…

Pros
  • Globe and A models available
Cons
  • Not sure

Get rid of that harsh light from above.

These bulbs are great for getting rid of glare from overhead lights. With a pendant light above the breakfast table, this bulb casts light onto the ceiling, creating a softer glow than even a frosted bulb would offer. Be careful when using them as they are designed to reflect most of the light back to the base so consider where you plan to use them. Because they're inexpensive, it's a good idea to buy at least one and try them out in a few spots to see how they affect the lighting in your home.

Pros
  • Average lifetime 1,500 hours; Lumens: 900; color rendering index: 100; Color Temperature: 2700K
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something
