I bought this to place a lamp to light up above my sofa. This is the corner where my husband sits and I didn't want him to be blinded by the bare lightbulbs shining in his eyes while we watch TV. Instead of shining downward, the silver floors reflect the light UP and away from those sitting below. I took off a star because a lightbulb puts out quite a bit of heat and my lightbulb needed 3 of them. I don't think it's the pears. I'm only used to LEDs and fluorescent lights. It never occurred to me that they were old-fashioned incandescent bulbs. I have nothing against incandescent bulbs and prefer them for the light quality, but the heat worries me about energy consumption.
