Be sure to read the description. These are brushes with "hard bristles". This is what I was looking for, but some buyers may not pay attention, thinking these are typical soft brushes. They are also only 6 inches long. Most pipe cleaners that you buy at some stores are 10 to 12 inches long and are often used for crafting. These are real pipe cleaners, not handcrafted pipe cleaners.

I would try a different brand instead. The biggest problem is that the wire is too flexible and bends too easily. I've tried them on a few tubes and just couldn't push them very far before they bent themselves. However, I don't smoke much and bought them to solve various cleaning and maintenance issues. The abrasive is not as aggressive as the brands and is slightly less absorbent.

These are so SICK you can't even hold them. I went to pull one out and he ripped my finger off. I read the reviews, well the best reviews and I thought it was odd that half had 1 star and half 5 stars but the overall rating was 41/2 stars so I figured they must be good. Now I have to get my tetanus shot and I can't even get it back. It's my fault for not just having someone else pull up at Michaels and get some pipe cleaners that will NOT cause any physical harm.

They are not only good for cleaning pipes, I don't smoke but I do a lot of other things with them. I needed something that would clean between the metal washers on the tool, all kinds of nozzles that get clogged with sprayers, and those places even an old toothbrush wouldn't reach, like under plumbing fixtures. I've used them for cake decorating tips and to get into places in my sewing machines that the brushes can't reach. They are great to have at home.

These stiff bristle brushes work wonders for the plastic cup straws my 90 year old mom uses every day. I used to have a lot of trouble cleaning them and just went out and bought a new set of mugs! Straw cleaning is now a breeze with these stiff-bristled pipe cleaners. The only downside is that I have to wrap tape around one end of the brush as the bristles hurt my fingers. It would be nice if they had a plastic coating on one end to eliminate this problem.

"Stiff Bristle" should be read as "SHARP NEEDLE BRISTLES" or ***WARNING: EXTREMELY SHARP BRISTLES*** Elementary, Middle and High School Teachers and Sunday School Classes" Yes, that's right!- ONLY IF YOU WANT BLOODY AND CRYING KIDS CLICKING AT SCHOOL AND CHURCH! Then be prepared for parents, state and church to sue a kid! Damn, these things can of the Used as tire spikes by law enforcement!BUYER BEWARE!
