Shared charge for all day

Added second battery to my Contractor rig. This keeps my spare battery charged while I drive to the site. And then I can supplement my work with LED lights and walk for hours.

Direct replacement for defective insulator

Perfect fit for my 1979 Chevy RV/RV. Checked with a multimeter - works fine. The old one left the van battery drained while charging the battery at home. A bit strange process, but the new one really isolates again!

Maybe great, but not for me

Couldn't get it to work in my application. I spent about 8 hours trying it. The instructions are too complicated for such a simple product. I have not received any support from the manufacturer, I have not answered the phone or email. After three days of trying to get support I gave up and just sent it back to Amazon. I should have just returned it from the start.

Well made and documented

Several pages of installation information are included with the unit. This was important to me as I was creating a new configuration. Installation was electrically simple; Mechanically it wasn't that easy because of the car and not because of the insulation. I was a little surprised that the voltage drop across the diodes was about 0.6 volts (silicon?). I thought schottky diodes could be used but there are probably other issues such as: B. Just plug in a good DVM and charge a few amps afterwards.

I use this to disconnect my battery and ham radio from the Astron RS-35A power supply. Just connect a good DVM and a few amps load after the isolator and adjust the PSU output with an internal adjustment in the PSU so you see 13.8V. If you connect it to your batteries and devices under light load, you should see 13.8B. If you don't tighten the PSU like it should. Much easier if your power supply has external voltage regulation.
