Win10 for Kantronics KPC-3 Plus TNC: works!

I bought this to connect a Kantronics KPC-3 Plus TNC to a Windows 10 laptop. I had to cut off two small female hex heads on the DB25 side because the KPC-3 Plus does that too has female threaded hex heads, but once installed the DB25 connector remains fairly stable. I had no problems turning it off. I cut them off with a Dremel cutting wheel. Although the cable comes with a driver CD for your PC, Windows 10 doesn't require you to install a driver. Win10 automatically recognizes the device on…

Pros
  • Sequins
Cons
  • Can't remember

This Revain image shows the *blue outer shell 16899 USB A to Serial Cable with DB25M connector. However, the 22429 cable pictured in the title/description is only available in grey. The colors in the photo in the advertisement do not correspond to the actual color of the product. The models 16899 and 22429 differ only in the color of the housing, but the internal contents appears to be the same. IMHO the image needs to be modified to show that the actual item the Cables-to-Go OEM does not…

Pros
  • Attractive Appearance
Cons

Doesn't connect to devices, the description isn't right.

I wish I had read more negative reviews or activated my Fakespot when I made the purchase. Plug adapters must have knurled screws since sockets have threaded lugs. You cannot use it to connect to a printer or other device because the solid pins on it press against the socket pins on the device. You cannot remove the pins from the devices as they usually hold the connector to the case. When they are removed, the connector falls inward and is inaccessible. Without an adapter (and why then this…

I've now purchased over 50 of these handy USB DB9 serial devices.

. The Raspberry pi3b immediately sees this as /dev/ttyUSB0 --->xx Windows 10 also works out of the box, on some (not all) of our older Windows 7 machines we had to go to their website and download the drivers manually .

Pros
  • . Don't waste too much time.
Cons
  • . No power.

Installation was a bit tricky

Installation was a bit tricky because I had to remove the thumbscrews on the modem cable. The case was that I had a female to female connection so either (1) the female brace had to be removed or (2) the thumbscrews had to be removed. I decided to remove the thumbscrews, which required pliers and a clamp.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Exterior

USB 3.0 to HDMI conversion not working

I was really hoping this adapter ($80) would work because it claimed to offer up to 2560x1600 resolution over HDMI. StarTech's HDMI version has only been upped to 1920 x 1080 - you'll need to buy the StarTech DisplayPort version ($95) to up the resolution to 2560 x 1600. I ordered the StarTech model first and then ordered the C2G when I saw it was cheaper. I ordered both and I'm really sorry that this adapter didn't work. I recently purchased 2 LG 29EA73 Ultrawide Monitors with a 21:9 aspect…

Pros
  • Fast DB25 serial to USB conversion; great for many digital cameras and POS
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
