It works as advertised.

Had to travel back and forth to the office due to the ongoing pandemic. It plugs directly into USB-C and works flawlessly. From time to time the wireless keyboard I have slows down a bit but it turns back on. It's worth it.

Dual 4K60 cannot be used with Surface Pro 7

When Surface Pro 7 is connected to two 4K monitors, it can only run one at 4k30 and the other at 1080p60. Both monitors can display 4k60 alone. Surface Pro 7 supports DP 1.4 with HBR3 and DSC, so I don't know why this hub/dock doesn't support dual 4k60.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Compatibility

not impressed with docking stations

Okay. I can't get dual monitors to work at 2K resolution via DP on Linux, which has been very handy. I have an AMD P14S and am stuck with a display on the HDMI connector and a display on this thing. I'm not gaming, I don't care about refresh rates, I just want the displays to work. I will end up buying a Lenovo dock.

  • Looks good
Cons
  • Some issues

4K only at 30Hz with only 1 monitor

I have an earlier version of this that allows me to have two 4K HFMI monitors at 30Hz or one at 60Hz. I just assumed it would be as good if not better, but I was wrong as it can ONLY drive a DisplayPort 4K monitor at 30Hz. It doesn't matter if you have one or two 4K monitors, both run at 30Hz. The previous version from 4 years ago is MUCH better and MUCH cheaper!

Pros
  • Feels good
Cons
  • Big and bulky

Does what it says on the box

The form factor is nice and portable and you can't beat the price for something with performance and triple monitor support. The only real downside is that it doesn't seem to support daisy chaining of DisplayPort connections; ie I had to connect each monitor to a port on the docking station even though my monitors support DisplayPort multithreading and the signal for the second monitor uses the first.

Pros
  • Nice touch
Cons
  • No form required

Works great with M1 MacBook Pro

If you have an M1 MacBook and need a dock that supports 4K 60Hz display, USB and Power Pass/Pass Through, get this one. After trying 4 different docks under $100 via HDMI and DisplayPort since I've had the M1, including Apple's "Multiport Digital AV Adapter", I've found this to be the first and only dock that works reliably on my M1. To my knowledge, the M1 can only be used with an external display. So if you need more than one external display, you might need a different solution.

Doesn't work well with MacBook Pro 4K display

I tried using this hub with my 16" MacBook Pro and a LG 4K display. It worked fine initially, but after a day or so the display started randomly flickering and turning off. Connecting the display directly to my laptop works fine, so it's the hub, not the display. Also, the always-on cable that connected to the computer is very short (maybe 6 inches or so). This seriously limits the flexibility of placing the hub on my desk. In the next version of this product, please make the host cable…

Works great.: Notebook Accessories

Have been using it daily for a few weeks and it works great. I connect my laptop to two external monitors (2k and 1080p) and also use gigabit ethernet. I can pass the internet speed test without any problems by controlling both monitors. I haven't tried three monitors yet. Initially, I connected the Logitech Unifying receiver to the hub and noticed that my mouse and keyboard lagged a bit from time to time. From some research this seems to be typical of small hubs that perform the same as these…

Pros
  • Constant test results
Cons
  • Only available in black

Excellent port consolidation even with external MVMe drives

This works in Windows on a 16" MacBook Pro via Bootcamp. However, on macOS I sometimes have to disconnect and reconnect it to establish an ethernet connection to activate. This seems like random behavior as it sometimes automatically detects that everything is already connected and provides gigabit speeds. The 5Gb/s USB-C port is also great. NVMe access times are as good as plugging an external NVMe drive directly into the computer's onboard port, and as expected, maximum throughput is limited…
