The cap sucks, everything else is an improvement

The cap is really difficult to put on properly but otherwise it's an improvement over previous designs. I hope they fix the hat in the future, it's REALLY annoying.

Pros
  • Pleasant
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly

The lid is difficult to close

The lid on this thing almost unscrews, so it seals normally the first time. The older models were much better. I have two of these, the old one with a different lid design was much better than this one. This design did not have to go through the prototype stage.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Hard to tell

Being paralyzed in a wheelchair is a great thing to have water with me.

Being paralyzed in a wheelchair is a great thing when I always have water. I've been using Camelbak in a variety of styles for over 15 years. I love this style because I can attach it to the back of my wheelchair or hang it on my bed.

Ice Cream in 10 Hours: Hydration Packs

It's awesome. I got ice cream after 10 hours in 95+ sun at Disneyland. Love it. This whole contraption is also tucked away in an isolated location in my camelback backpack. It probably helps a little. The water consumption is high. There was an initial aftertaste but that went away after a good cleaning. I will buy my son a smaller one. Good product.

If you are a cold water lover, this is what you need.

I bought this for my Florida theme park trips. We live close to one and everyone else visits regularly when pandemics don't spoil the fun. We recently went to one and I bought two of them. Together they are able to keep water cold for hours in hot and humid conditions. It's cold enough that we use water almost too quickly. Great buy and easier than sewing pieces together from an old wetsuit.

The new screw cap design is terrible! Do not buy!

Bought after I lost my old insulated Camelbak in rough water. Apparently they went from a 1/4 turn seal to a full turn seal. My old Camelbak sealed with no problem and the 1/4 turn never leaked. It took no skill or mental effort to properly close the lid! However, the new design is terrible! Once filled, it takes me at least 5 tries to put the lid on properly! Every time you feel like your threads are right and not crossed, put a little pressure on the chamber and water will most likely flow…

CamelBak ruined a great design with Crux

No junk, but no progress either. I'm not sure why CamelBak felt they needed to fiddle with their filler, earlier bottles and vials had a fairly bulletproof 1/4 turn cap that never leaked. This one will leak horribly if you don't screw it in properly. Holding it by the handle when full will guarantee an airtight seal. You'll need to balance the bottle on the surface so the lid is flat to create an airtight seal. Plug for your mini filter. Who needs 20% for a sip. I do not recommend this casting…

Barring one major design flaw, it would have been a five star product.

This is my third 3L Camelback Unbottle (the first was the original circa 2002). This design is almost stunning, aside from the fact that the wide-mouth gas cap almost never screws properly when closed. More than half of the time, the threads are screwed in incorrectly, resulting in improper sealing and water leakage from improper sealing. It is often necessary to remove the lid, filter out more water, and try to secure the lid properly. I have been using Camelback products for decades now and…

Tank leak at the point where the quick coupling connects to the actual tank.

This item was purchased in August for a wild 90 mile kayak race in September. I usually use cheap Chinese knockoffs but figured I needed the camelback guarantee for this race. I used the tank twice before the race. Both times I didn't seem able to fill the reservoir completely as the water would run out much sooner than expected. I filled it up on the first day of the race, but it only lasted 5 miles before it went empty. On the second day of racing I made sure it was completely filled. Started
