Cheaper alternative to CamRanger

I bought this as a cheaper alternative to CamRanger. It serves its purpose with minimal problems. My use case involves remotely starting/viewing video on the 7dii as a second camera when recording video. I have not fully tested the remote shutter release. I purposely tried to crash the app or device to see how bad 'bad' could be while capturing video, but couldn't find a permanent cause of the crash. Wanted to stumble without a cable and immediately send it to the laptop, then immediately download it from the laptop via the Internet. Among other things, the device I tried worked but was very slow when transferring an image. I snapped a photo within 5 feet of my laptop and counted "1,100,000 3.1,000". When I got to 4, the image appeared (RAW and JPEG). too slow for me It's not like a wired modem is much faster, but why do you have to wait so long after just one shot? My creativity dried up…

Failed out of the box (with 1 update)

The description says it's compatible with Canon 5DS but the USB cable isn't USB3 which 5DS requires. I found another cable and plugged it in fairly easily, remembering I'd taken the Canon Wi-Fi card out of the card slot. I took some pictures, great, they appeared as thumbnails on my iPad. I was able to switch to full screen mode and then it crashed. I tried again and again and again and every time it crashed. I emailed cs about my experience and not a good cable followed by a second email about
