Great expander. Sharper than the previous model but with an error

I upgraded my 1.4x II lens to use with a 70-200 f/2.8 II lens and it impressed me, apart from one optical flaw. At 70mm it actually shows more CA/margin than the previous model. However, at 200mm it performs better in this regard with less CA/fringing. I actually sent back the first one Revane sent me, thinking it was somehow damaged. The exchange went the same way. I think since these Mark III converters were designed for use with super telephoto lenses, the optical design was made to maximize

Great extender for use with Canon L lenses

I am currently using it on my Canon 70-200 f4 L IS with EOS 7D. I chose 70-200 f4 IS over f2.8 mainly for IS and weight. I can still get good shots with a teleconverter at f5.6 and IS helps a bit. When I use it with a 70-200 f4L IS I get the equivalent: 98-280mm and f5.6 - f45. with 70-200 F4L IS and EOS 7D you get about: 157-448mm and the same aperture. I'll try to post some sample images for the product description above because 'they' don't allow us to post links here. :-(PROS: Extends the…

I've been using Nikon for a long time, the last camera was the D810. I was looking to upgrade to the D850 but chose the Sony A7R iii instead due to its form factor and the ability to use lenses with different mounts via adapters. Since then I have bought a Sony FE 12-24mm f/4, FE 24-105mm f/4 and a large number of Canon EF mount lenses in combination with a Sigma MC11 adapter. I will post my experiences with other lenses elsewhere. This review focuses on using Canon extenders with the EF…

It's worth the money, but you have to find a balance with light

USM II lens. The Canon EF 1.4X III telephoto lens gives this lens a maximum focal length of 560mm f/8, so you lose a full stop. To put this in perspective, from f/5.6 to f/8 (one point) you get only half the light you get at f/5.6. I had a bit of a learning curve and had to fiddle with the settings a bit to get good exposure in low light. The day I got this was one of those overcast days where the sun looks like a speck in the sky, but I just didn't want to wait for better conditions, and…
