I am addicted to this material

Have used this canvas paper for many years. I'm addicted and can't get off. Sometimes I wish I had used it: because to display it you have to go through a mat/framing process, while a normal stretched canvas can be hung directly on the wall at will. (Although I just stick mine on the wall before framing πŸ˜…). Something in it is such a texture, similar to paper, but durable. I just can't get the same effects with real canvas as I can with this material.

Pros
  • Has a canvas texture close to linen
Cons
  • A dodgy purchase for the elderly

Great alternative to canvas!

I love this paper! Great when I have to do big projects and drawings. I used Indian ink and it didn't bleed, it came out smooth and the ink had no texture issues. With the help of a brush I drew a nice clean line. If you apply and reapply and keep adding wet mediums I don't think it will hold up like a canvas so keep that in mind. But a great alternative! It's silky smooth and has a "plastic" feel like it's bent into something, so it's definitely superior to regular heavyweight paper for…

  • 136 lb/290 gram acid-free paper
Cons
  • loose change

Love the texture/weave and the finish is just...

I never go into my workshop without this "canvas" in my workshop. I use pretty much everything from linen to cardstock and have tried most other linen pillows too. I like the texture/weave and the finish is almost right. I rate canvas (and also plaster) by whether they are "quick" or "slow" to draw, which is mostly related to how absorbent the surface is. For me, this surface is a good balance. Ideal for small studies or for gluing on small masonite slabs. A relatively affordable and durable…
