Carefree 901012 Window Awning Replacement Review

The strap works fine after I cut it to the right length and sewed the T-connector back onto the strap. I hope my stitch holds. They sent an 8-foot strap in a 27-inch package. Even part number 901011 was for 8 feet.

Not so easy to install following the instructions but found an alternative way without drilling out the rivets. The correct way is to do it according to the instructions. I simply drilled a groove for it to slide into and inserted it into the groove and cutout of the old one.

This does not work with small window awnings. At least for the Fleetwood of the early 2000s. Both the end of the strap and the rivets will fit a large patio cover, not a smaller window cover. The product is well made, just not suitable for a window application.

Exceeds Camco performance. I replaced my 17 year old Carefree awning traction straps with Camco straps that have only been used 3 times, so I'm replacing the replacement with genuine Carefree straps. Don't waste your money on Camco strap.

A&E Elite/Delux window awning channel is approximately 3/16" or smaller. Carefree and others require a 1/4" connection. Check out YouTube! I modified the strap by removing the 3/16" pin from the awning strap and the 1/4" slide pin from the Carefree Strap with a razor blade and sewing on the 3/16" slide pin. Works like a champ!

I have replaced my original 1996 awning drive belts. The instructions will guide you to disassemble the end caps and will require you to have a rivet gun. There are instructions on YouTube to drill a small section of duct at one end to replace it. It is much easier. The channel is made of soft aluminum that can be easily expanded with a drill.

Perfect replacement for a worn strap on our 2013 Entegra Coach Bus with four Carefree Window Awnings. Really easy to replace meaning no tools required apart from a ladder. I'm not sure when Carefree started and if they always incorporated a slot/groove in the top end caps of their cap, but those slots/grooves certainly make it easy to swap out the traction strap. The included rivets were not needed or used.
