Bought size 5 for my 4.5 year old but they fit him. It's a little big at 45 pounds, but not bulky at all. They were a little big, but with the adjustable waistband, they fit perfectly. I didn't want perfect. I wanted them to fit for a while so I ordered 6. They were very long but I just attached the legs and used the adjustable waist. They have held up great and at least fit this and next season and are at my expense. These are good Carhartt materials and I can see they will last.

I am a small woman in my fifties, slim and strong, 5ft 1in tall and weigh about 98 pounds. They fit great, just the right length, although I like them while tucking my boots in. Comfortable, better than the regular size 16 boys Carhartt pants as they are a bit roomy in the hips. I like the adjustable waist. I live an active life in the forest with animals so I need tight pants. It's hard to find strong pants my size that go well with blue jeans! I'm not a fan of blue jeans in any shade of blue.
