I have just received this mat (therefore I cannot confirm its long term use). My poor cutter had a bit of a problem as I used all 4 sides of the original cutting mat and never replaced them. I have bought about four of these replacement pads in over 20 years. I had a Carl rotary cutter. I do a lot of crafts that require paper cutting and I use my cutter a lot! I was getting ready to start making my Christmas cards and I had to cut the cardstock to size and a new mat board helps the cut go smoothly. Each mat has two cut surfaces, so if a ridge develops on one side of the cut line, the mat can be flipped over to the new side.
