Center hole too small for a conventional spindle rendering the tool unusable. When I tried to drill the hole to size, the protractor immediately broke in half (see photo). I have returned the item.

The protractor is perfect for aligning my cartridge. I use a Sorbotane mat, which can be slightly sticky. When I tried to take it off the spindle, it broke into 3 pieces. Partly my fault, but be careful when buying as it is very tight on the spindle. Probably to be exact. A small magnifying glass works well too.

This is a great tool if you are concerned about the alignment of your cartridge, or you have bought a new cartridge or will be in the future. However, the problem I've found is that the factory hole isn't big enough and I had to enlarge it to fit my Pro-ject turntable's spindle. It was a bummer. After installation it was great.

I am retired, so my eyesight is not the same! I had a hard time seeing the tip of the pen and exactly where it was on the scale. Even with the magnifying glass on, it was difficult to hit the precise point on the scale with the tip of the stylus. Mainly because the light is blocked by the cartridge body and headshell. I'm sure my age and eyesight have a lot to do with it. Otherwise, I have no reason to doubt the accuracy of the protractor itself.

This is the only way to ensure the stylus is perfectly aligned with the pickup groove. I bought these instead of the mirror version. This worked great, I could easily see the alignment. I figured a duplicate image of the mirrored version would make it harder, but I've never tried this version of this tool. Pretty good, maybe better.
