Description of Cast Acrylic Sheet Thick Nominal Raw Materials in Plastics

LIGHT IN WEIGHT Acrylic (specific gravity 1.19) is less than half the weight when compared to inorganic glass. CHEMICAL RESISTANT Acrylic is resistant to inorganic chemicals and normal chained hydrocarbons. However, contact with organic solvents may cause swelling, crazing, or cracking. IMPACT RESISTANT Acrylic is approximately 8 to 10 times more resistant to impact than ordinary plate glass. EASY FABRICATION Acrylic can be saw cut, drilled, routed, machined, solvent cemented, polished and strip bent using conventional acrylic sheet fabrication techniques. THERMO FORMABLE An excellent thermoplastic, acrylic may be thermoformed. Because it is a cell cast sheet, it is not subject to the excessive shrinkage that is encountered in extruded or continuously manufactured sheets.

Durable and Versatile: A Great Investment

This thick acrylic sheet is perfect for industrial and scientific applications. It's impressively strong and resistant to weather, chemicals and impact, providing long-lasting durability. Its transparency allows for better visibility and accuracy, making it a versatile material for multiple projects. However, it is important to handle with care as it can scratch easily due to its hardness. Overall, a great investment for anyone working with plastics and raw materials.

Pros
  • Extremely durable and resistant to impact, making it ideal for high-stress applications.
Cons
  • Prone to cracking or shattering if subjected to high temperatures, limiting its use in certain applications.

excellent product for raw materials

great product, well packaged, cuts and engraves neatly with my k40 low power CO2 laser (air fed) with little to no smoke or residue

Pros
  • THERMOFORMABLE Excellent thermoplastic, acrylic can be thermoformed. Because it is a cellular cast film, it does not experience the excessive shrinkage associated with extruded or continuously formed films.

Fast delivery good price

Item arrived quickly, my only complaint would be that the photos here are not true. I really enjoy working with this material and will use this seller again.

Pros
  • EASY TO MANUFACTURE Acrylic can be sawed, drilled, routed, machined, solvent bonded, polished and stripped using standard acrylic sheet manufacturing processes.
Cons
  • Large and bulky
