Catalina Lighting 18775 012 Hollywood Spotlight Review

I bought this lamp to illuminate a wall in my apartment. It is designed for bulbs with a maximum power of 40 watts, so the "headlight" or any other light is quite weak. It gets very hot even at this relatively low power. How flammable hot.

I asked on the Revain website if this space could be used on a desk instead of on the wall and got a positive response. Thank God. This is exactly what I've been looking for for years to make my vintage paintings stand out. It also suits my decor. I love it!

I really like the style of this uplighter. I've used it with a regular tinted bulb and found that it doesn't function as a spotlight as intended, but still gives off a cool accent light. There are spotlight bulbs (Hue Color and Normal) that I'm sure I can mix better for a spotlight effect.

The headlight has a standard A26 socket which we are all used to from standard sized lamps. When you insert a regular incandescent or LED bulb into this socket, the top of the bulb will protrude from the edge of the device. Very ugly and doesn't look like the picture. If you don't use a mini lamp, don't buy one.

I was looking for a pair of spotlights to mount on a stone chimney to light up the old movie posters we have next to it. It's definitely not a limelight. It throws light on movie posters, but a standard 40" white bulb and light cylinder just doesn't work for what I needed it for. I'll run to Home Depot to see if there's a headlight bulb that might work better. It's more of an accent light.
