Catskill Craftsmen Utility Paddle Cutting Review

Exactly the size and shape I was looking for. Reminds me of the ones my mom used in the kitchen as a kid. It feels a little "rough" but I believe it will smooth out with continued use. Can't wait to have that beloved patina on it. I only use it for veggies and herbs and keep the plastic bottles for meat because of possible cross-contamination.

Initially I really liked these cutting boards. They are big and the handle is very comfortable. However, both of which I ordered 4 months ago have separated to the point of being unusable. I have oiled them many times and we never leave them in the water. There is no reason why this should have happened. If I knew how to contact the seller I would ask for a free full replacement for both.

I treated this board with table oil several times before using it. The wood is a bit rough and not very smooth like high quality or well used boards. I don't expect more in this price range. Very nice and no cracks. It looks well made. I love using this large board when making small salads as I can carry it to the salad and scrape the food into the salad bowl and it's really easy to clean. It's also a cute little plate for serving cheese cubes on the table in a rustic country style.

This is a small cutting board. The work surface is approximately 10 x 7 inches. If you're cooking a large batch of something, this won't work for you. Whether you're slicing a loaf of bread or chopping an onion or some carrots, it's amazing. The small size makes it easy to move and store. Wood resists scratches from the knives used on it well and is less likely to damage the knife blade than many other types of cutting board surfaces. I have a black spot on one side. So why is this cutting board around $12 when similar sized boards made from the same wood are many times more expensive - right here on Amazon? the paper that wrapped the tablet was oiled, so I can attest that the tablet was oiled, but who knows for how long. When I first took it out of the box I noticed two things (1) the board was whitish - it needed oiling (2) the surface was fairly smooth but rough to the touch - not sanded enough.
