Large Cavallo Pastern Wrap for Horse Hoof Boot Review

I really like this idea and I'm sure it will work great on most horses. Mine doesn't last for some reason. As they move, it can cause scuff marks on the ankle and accumulate in the boot. I'm sure my horse is uncomfortable so I stopped using them. Great idea, just didn't work for my horse.

I wear a size 3 narrow boot and a medium size with ankle wrap. It is necessary that small stones do not get into the boot and do not rub it. They are tight and need stretching to ensure the bandage is low enough, almost below the back of the leg. When I put my boot on, I make sure to pull the back of the wrap down so it gets stepped on a bit. That keeps him from getting up.

I really like these ankle boots. I have worn Cavallo boots several times without them and have noticed some scrapes on my horse's heels. That doesn't happen with these metacarpal bandages. They're a bit hard to get to stay in place when putting the boot on, but not so much that it can't be done without frustration.
